Introduction
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will be hosting the ACM Winter School on Hybrid Cloud, co-sponsored by IBM Research India. Prof. Yogesh Simmhan from IISc and Dr. Amith Singhee from IBM Research are the coordinators. The school will span 6 days, from 9 to 14 Jan, 2020, and be held at the Department of Computational and Data Sciences (CDS), Seminar Room 102. We expect about 40 attendees from across India to participate in the school. The modules covers span Cloud as a service, virtualization and containers, application development on the Cloud, DevOps and platform services. Experts from IISc and IBM Research will lead the modules, and there will be hands-on lab sessions. There will also be two keynotes from leading researchers on state-of-the-art in Hybrid Clouds.
Logistics
Boarding and Lodging
Attendees will be provided with on-campus housing at IISc from Jan 8 at 12 Noon until Jan 14 at 12 Noon. In certain cases, where requested, attendees will be provided with an additional day of accommodation until Jan 15 at 12 Noon at a nearby hotel. All rooms will be on a same-gender twin-sharing basis. Since the rooms are provided at our guest houses where faculty and international visitors stay, attendees must maintain etiquette and good behavior.

AI and Hybrid Cloud: A researcher’s peek at the technology relationship that will enable the Cognitive Enterprise Artificial intelligence technology has seen disruptive progress in this decade. The same can be said for cloud computing. Businesses today stand facing competitive pressures and consumer expectations that are unprecedented. At the same time they have the tantalising opportunity to leverage these disruptive new technologies to transform into and meet these challenges head on. To some extent there has been an adoption of AI and cloud computing for limited business models and business operations, but the major transformation into is yet to come – as cloud computing matures into the hybrid model of private, public and multi cloud. |
